31-day, 3000-mile road trip to Colorado with focus on hiking. 8 days on the Colorado Trail: 118 km from Silverton to Durango. Plus 130 km of multiple day-hikes.
Florida 2025 – road trip
23-day, 3600-mile loop across ten states (IL, IN, KY, TN, AL, FL, GA, SC, NC, OH). We visited cities and towns, and nature parks.
Western Canada and Alaska 2024 – road trip
103-day, 13000-mile loop across six provinces/teritories (ON, MB, SK, AB, BC, YT) and eight states (IL, WI, MN, WA, ID, MT, ND, AK). We were in Alaska 40 of the 103 days. We crossed US-Canada border 8 times.
Eastern Canada 2023 – road trip
37-day, 6000-mile loop around Eastern Canada, heading out via Detroit and returning via Cleveland. We crossed 10 states and 6 provinces: Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland & Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edwards Island and New Brunswick.
Michigan Upper Peninsula 2022 – road trip
11-day, 1250-mile road trip to visit Pictured Rocks and to hike in Porcupine Mountains.
Southwest 2022 – road trip
29-day, 5000-mile road trip to TX-NM-UT-AZ-UT with 5-day Buckskin Gulch-Paria River Canyon hike as top highlight.
John Muir Trail 2021 – road trip
We drove 4200 miles (round trip) to California to hike John Muir Trail: 220 miles, 29 days, from Tuolumne Meadow to Mt Whitney.
Isle Royale 2021 – road trip
We drove 1500 miles from Chicago to Grand Portage and back, took boat to Windigo to hike 50 miles to Chippewa Harbor in 8 days.
